Director of Development

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, strategist who loves to connect people with opportunities. This dynamic leader thrives on building meaningful relationships that drive revenue and support for our mission. 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Development will help secure the financial resources necessary to support our financial
sustainability, strategic impact and future growth. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this leader will
oversee all aspects of our fundraising and resource development, driving the establishment and execution of
fundraising strategies, and building relationships with donors and partners.

Hours:  Full-time, 35 hours per week, primarily in-person.

Compensation: Hiring range of $54,000 to $58,000 per year with paid time off and a health spending account. 

Accountability:  This role reports to the Executive Director.

Team: Works in collaboration with the Communications and Campaign Coordinator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising

  • Develop, implement a robust and strategic fundraising strategy with defined objectives, audiences, and
    schedules to maximize and diversify revenue.
  • Ensure that fundraising targets are met, and budgeted funds are raised to meet organizational priorities
  • In collaboration with the Communications and Events Coordinator, ensure the success of all fundraising
    campaigns, including but not limited to a major event, a church giving campaign, and a fall donation
    campaign
  • Develop strategies and plans to grow the major gift and planned giving programs.
  • Ensure regular evaluation of fundraising metrics, successes, and growth areas.
  • Research and engage with available donation programs and granting opportunities.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify new areas of revenue growth including direct and digital marketing,
    corporate sponsorships, events, campaigns, church partnerships, major gifts, and other initiatives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in keeping with fundraising best practices.


Donor Engagement

  • Manage all aspects of donor acquisition and engagement, including monthly donors, individual giving,
    grants and foundations, legacy giving, major donors, and corporate and financial community partnerships.
  • Support other businesses and organizations to successfully host third party fundraising events
  • Oversee administration of the donor management system, ensuring data security and accurate receipting
    for all charitable gifts.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, provide impactful presentations at churches and to
    community stakeholders that educate and inspire audiences to engage and advance the mission of TPC.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Business, Non-Profit Management or related field is required. 
    • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
    • A proven track record of success in donor cultivation, grant writing, and fundraising strategy development is required. 

    SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust amongst all stakeholders, acting ethically and responsibly in all interactions.
    • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethical standards, and legal requirements related to charitable giving is an asset.
    • Familiarity with Customer Relationshop Management software for managing donor campaigns is preferable. 
    • A Canadian Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is considered an asset. 
    • A team player who has a desire to contribute to the overall effectiveness of TPC, its programs, staff, volunteers, and community partners in fulfilling our mission.
    • Interest and experience working from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens.
    • As a leader of a faith-based charity, the Director of Development will regularly engage with and present at local churches. This director must support our Christian mission expressed through our core values of  generosity, respect, connection, collaboration, and hope.
    • Valid criminal reference check.


    WORK CONDITIONS:

    • Able to travel within the Waterloo Region to meet with donors.
    • Able to attend periodic events outside of scheduled work hours.
