You can help end diaper need in Waterloo Region.

What is Diaper Need?

Diaper need affects families who don’t have enough diapers to keep an infant clean, dry, and healthy. With the rising cost of living, many households are forced to choose between essentials like rent, food, and diapers.

In many cases of diaper need, parents miss work and lose wages because they are unable to send their infant to childcare. In extreme situations, babies may wear the same diaper for more than a day or re-use diapers that have been dried out and cleaned.

Demand for diapers and practical resources in Waterloo Region has increased 67% since last year.

How to Host a

Diaper Drive

1. Sign up to host a diaper drive and choose your timeline. We recommend hosting the drive for 2 to 3 weeks.

2. Decide where to host your diaper drive. Connect with your peers, family, co-workers, or others to collect diapers.

3. Use the Host Toolkit to promote the diaper drive. We have a ton of resources to help your drive succeed! Download the toolkit for social media posts, images, support letters and more!

Frequently Asked Questions

What diaper sizes should I buy?

The most commonly needed sizes are 4 and 5. Fewer newborn and smaller sized diapers are needed as these are less requested.

How does the Centre's diaper distribution program work?

Our diaper distribution program is designed to assist low-resourced families by providing supplemental diapers each month until a child is 3 years old.

Families who need diapers can come to the Centre and complete an intake appointment to get registered for our program.

Can I purchase diapers and have them delivered?

Absolutely!

If you’re shopping on Amazon, use our wishlist and have your diapers sent straight to The Pregnancy Centre.

If you’re shopping online elswhere, enter the Centre’s address for delivery: 40 Francis St. S, Kichener, ON, N2G 2A2.

Please note we are open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. when purchasing diapers for delivery.

Why does the Centre provide diapers?

We believe in creating a community where there is enough for everyone, and no one is left behind. Parenting is hard enough. Parents shouldn’t have to worry that their babies will go without the most basic of needs.

Diapers are a crucial resource for families with babies and young children. Distributing diapers to low-resourced families helps reduce economic burden, reduces stress, and promotes infant and child well-being. The immediate needs of low-resourced families are being met through this program, while connecting these same families with other beneficial programs offered through the Centre.

Can I donate cloth diapers?

We appreciate the desire to donate reusable cloth diapers. However, some people do not have reliable laundry services or capacity to launder reusable diapers. We are encouraging donations of disposable diapers.
