Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Pregnancy Centre (TPC) is a registered charity that provides practical resources and emotional support to people in the Waterloo Region who are pregnant or parenting in crisis. The part-time Childcare Manager will provide on-site programming and leadership in our child-minding program (children ages 0 – 4) while caregivers participate in the Centre’s programs and services.

Hours: 12 – 13 hours/week. The standard hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 9-12 pm with two bi-monthly meetings from 12 – 1 pm.

Duration: This is a 4-month contract from March 4 to June 20, 2024. This position may be renewed in September 2024.

Hiring Range: $19 – 21/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and daily operations of the childcare program.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and coaching to childcare volunteers.
  • Plan and organize age-appropriate crafts or activities.
  • Maintain attendance and other required records.
  • Ensure that equipment is safe, secure, and age appropriate.
  • Ensure that toys and program supplies are sanitized after each session.
  • Maintain the quality and standards of the program.
  • Provide a positive role model for parents and demonstrate appropriate interactions with children.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness by sharing information, attending meetings, and supporting the childcare
    team.

Qualifications & Core Competencies:

  • Certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education is preferred but not required.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience working with infants and toddlers.
  • Effective and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Naturally warm, welcoming, and comfortable in a diverse working environment.
  • Commitment to using an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed approach to service delivery.
  • Valid First Aid, and CPR certificates required (or willing to obtain).

Work Conditions 

  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.
  • Work is performed in person at TPC and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
